Having recently returned from Pattaya, where I sampled one of the finest pizzas I have had in Thailand, I was keen to make comparison with what Buriram had to offer.
In search of my goal I paid a visit to the Tulip Boutique Hotel which houses their restaurant, Muang Pizza Restaurant.
Formerly known as Muang Resort, the Tulip Boutique Resort has very recently been rebranded
The ownership and management team remain in place allowing for continuity of their previous success.
Situated at 514/59 Harnchana Road, the complex is easily accessible from the main Jira Road. There is ample off road parking both for hotel guests and patrons of the restaurant.
The restaurant is both bright and spacious and affords you the option of dining inside, in the air conditioned area or, outside on a covered area overlooking their swimming pool.
My wife and I elected for the air conditioning, well I did, and were shown to our table by an attentive waitress.

On perusing the menu it was obvious that Muang was not just a pizza restaurant. As well as an extensive array of homemade pizzas, there were several pasta dishes, including spaghetti bolognaise, spaghetti carbonara, lasagne and a range of fusion dishes combining Thai flavours with those of Italy.
Included in the menu were breakfast options, a children’s section, grilled meats and fish served with your choice of vegetables, and an extensive Thai selection all at reasonable prices.
To complement your meal there was an adequate selection of Chilean and Australian wines to choose from, again at reasonable prices.
Ample Wine Selection
After serious consideration I selected the salami pizza and my wife the spaghetti carbonara. To accompany our meal we were presented with a mini bread board on which was a small brown loaf and a dish of garlic and herb butter.
My pizza was presented on a twelve inch pizza board, the base was thin and crispy and cooked to perfection, and the tomato sauce topping had a good depth of flavour without compromising the integrity of the other ingredients.
With a generous helping of salami and just the right amount of mozzarella this pizza hit the mark in all areas.

My wife’s carbonara was served in a traditional style pasta dish, the spaghetti was cooked to a perfect al dente texture and was masked in a deliciously rich creamy sauce that contained a generous serving of ham.

The total cost with a couple of drinks was 550 baht which represented excellent value bearing in mind the quality of the food.
Muang pizza is an established Buriram favourite and is frequented by both Thais and foreigners alike.
Service is attentive but not obtrusive, portions hearty and the ambience relaxed, we will definitely be visiting again, maybe for another pizza or even a pasta. Who knows?
