Officials prepare to search the hold-all, and the “offending” object (right).

On Wednesday morning bomb disposal experts were called in just after 8 am by baggage handlers at Chiang Mai airport after they had become suspicious of a hold-all bag. As they were loading it into the luggage compartment it suddenly began to vibrate.

Airport security was immediately put on alert and Air Asia flight FD3438 bound for Bangkok was grounded until the hold-all bag could be examined.

To everyone’s relief, it was soon discovered that the small, shiny object within was only the lady passenger’s vibrator and nothing dangerous .

The vibrator was carefully switched off and put back into the offending bag before being thrown back on board so the flight could get on its way.

The owner of the “toy” has asked to remain anonymous.
