Sunday 16th July saw Buriram virtually closed down by hundreds and hundreds of loyal Thai’s supporting the now annual ‘BIKE FOR MOM’.
There were old bikes and new bikes, cheap bikes and expensive bikes. Racing bikes and mountain bikes were also there to be seen. Bikes with thick tyres and bikes with extra thin tyres; there was even a bicycle made for two.
Men, women and young kids making up the cavalcade of happy bikers aimed to complete this 23 kilometre course in honour of The Queen.
Unfortunately the town was in lock down and your ace reporter could only view the event from near the start at the Buriram Provincial Offices. Getting other vantage points was impossible as the authorities had closed all routes into town.
However it can be said that Buriram successfully displayed it’s feelings by turning out in hundreds and hundreds. Whilst no official figures have been released an estimate of over one thousand bikes took part.
Congratulations to the citizens of Buriram for a truly unforgettable day.
