Ranko Popovic has revealed his reasons for resigning as head coach of Buriram United. Popovic was handed a three-month ban by the Thai Fa following an incident with the Bangkok United physio after a recent league game.
The Serb has maintained his innocence but when his appeal was rejected he felt it was in the best interests of both parties if he left the club.
Popovic has a fiery temper and he has been criticised by a large number of fans for his numerous confrontations with the fourth official.
With Buriram neck and neck with arch-rivals Muang Thong, it is vital that an appointment is made soon. One name that keeps cropping up is former Thailand national coach Kiatisak Senamuang who is currently in Korea taking more FIFA coaching badges.
It would be a popular appointment with many Buriram supporters but as ever Khun Newin will be keeping his cards close to his chest.
