Buriram Golf Society Texas Scramble A Close-Run Thing

The latest Buriram Golf Society Texas Scramble was played at Khao Kradong Golf Club on Friday, July 14. The event was kindly sponsored by Society member Tonny, this included prizes and the fee for having exclusive rights to the course until 1pm.

It was an 8am shotgun start, that is all the teams start at the same time on different holes. It was the usual scramble rules, all three players drive off and the best drive is chosen. All three players then play from that spot. This continues until the ball is holed.

It was stableford scoring and each team had a handicap which was calculated by adding the three players’ handicaps together and dividing by five.

There were seven teams of three and one of four as play commenced in ideal golfing conditions, ie not too hot with a slight breeze.

Scoring was good and the fact that there was only a seven point difference between 1st and 8th showed that the handicapper had got it just about right.

There were also nearest-the-pin prizes on 1 & 10 and 6 & 15.

It really is a very enjoyable format which all the players look forward to very much indeed.
