A charity golf day was held at the Ulratana Dam Golf Course outside of Khon Kaen on Wednesday, May 9th. The Dam, as it is affectionately known, was in excellent condition. Organizer Trevor Edge had done a magnificent job in attracting a field of 42, including Buriram Golf Society captain Keith Wood, fellow member Colin Bradwell and guest member Graham Dresser.
The format was individual stableford and there were prizes for nearest-the-pin on the par threes.
The Dam is a beautiful course but far from easy and it was gratifying to note that there were no “silly” scores which reflects well on the integrity of the players.
Result:-
1.Ole 39pts
2. Dave Ambridge 38pts
3. Sam 36pts
Nearest-the-pin :-
Paul Kelly, Steve Jones, Gary Manning and Gareth. (apologies for only having some of the winners’ first names.)
After the event, a charity auction of prizes donated to the fund was held and this coupled with profit from the golf raised a fantastic 45,500bht.
Well done to all concerned (particularly Trevor) for helping this really worthy cause. It is well-worth visiting the Home’s web site to see for yourself what they do for homeless children.
The money will be used to furnish a new playground for the children so that they can play in safety and it will also aid their physical development.
On behalf of the other two of the Buriram contingent, I would like thank everyone concerned (including our playing partner Mick Davies) for a wonderful day. As for the golf, let’s just say that the Khon Kaen hospitality once again did nothing to help our standard of play !
We will be back !
