Drag Racing At The Chang International Circuit

The following is a report from Mac, our motor racing correspondent from the drag racing last weekend. (April 28 & 29).

All results etc were in Thai so we are unable to publish them.

If fast cars, mind numbing noise and the smell of burning rubber is your thing then you should have been at the Buriram Dragster Track at the weekend! The only bad part about of the weekend was the weather, the unusually early rain this year put more than a dampener on the event causing a lot of unwanted silence!

However, it did not deter the fans who sat patiently in the stands for the rain to fade and the track to dry. The event this year hosted cars and drivers from all over Thailand, driving cars from small saloon cars to the more exotic top fuel drag cars sporting huge rear tires and parachutes to assist braking at he end of the run.

Going shopping or about to burn up the track at over 170kph!!

Waiting for the lights to turn green before burning more rubber!

Tyre and exhaust smoke dramatically lit by the track lights as this car performs its “burnout” to get the tyre temperature up to aid traction for the explosive start.
