The FAT have declared that Buriram United and Muang Thong United will share the 2016 Toyota League Cup after all Thai football was suspended following the sad passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol.
This means that that in 2017 Muang Thong will play in the Toyota Premier Cup, a one-off match between the Thai League Cup winners and an invited team from the Japanese J Division One.
Buriram go into the Toyota Mekong Club Championship. This is a competition involving clubs from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand.
The Thai team goes straight into the final , whilst the other teams play-off to decide the other finalist. Buriram will play the away leg of the final on Wednesday January 4 and the home leg on Sunday January 8.
Sukothai have been declared FA Cup winners following a drawing of lots and go forward into the 2nd Preliminary Round of the Asian Champions League.
We are still waiting to hear the FAT’s decision regarding Chainat and Army’s appeals against their unfair relegation.
