A DAY OF MIXED FORTUNES FOR OUR LOCAL RIDERS AT THE PTT BRIC RACES ON SUNDAY.
We spent the day in the garage of BRP racing team with team manager Ben Reid who also is the trainer/coach to the Johnson clan. Gary (dad) , 17 year old Stewart & 14 year old Kevin .Also sharing their garage Nattaphol Wongwuttyan otherwise known as Top who is the owner of the Cresco Hotel in Buriram.
First out was Stewart in the 400cc D1/D2 race. After qualiying 16th he made good progress to finish in 10th position & recording his personal best lap times during the race.
Young Kevin was next out in the 400cc D3 race in which he had qualified in a strong 7th position.
His race however was short-lived, being knocked off on the 2nd corner of the first lap. He had a nasty looking crash but managed to walk away without serious injury.
Dad Gary met a similar fate when another rider ran into him on the first lap knocking his front brake off and ending his race.
Top was out in the sb 1 & 2 class and managed a 2nd place in ghis class after qualifying in 7th.
Our other Buriram rider, Colin Butler was holding a very solid 4th place in his race for ST 1/2 bikes until half distance when he crashed out due to handling problems with his bike but again he was able to walk away unhurt.
