Thailand’s fate could well be more or less decided in the coming ten days in their bid to qualify for the World Cup finals in Russia, 2018.

They face away games in the United Arab Emirates and Iraq and anything less than four points could see their hopes expire. First up is the UAE on Thursday October 6, kick off 11pm (Thailand time).

Thailand are bottom of the table, pointless after defeats by Saudi Arabia and Japan. The dreadful refereeing in Saudi Arabia is looking even more damaging as the UAE  benefitted from some poor refereeing in their shock win in Japan.

Thailand were certainly made to suffer as Japan came to Bangkok as wounded lions and proceeded to play the home side off the park. A point is the least Thailand need on Thursday. Being realistic, they need to win.

They then travel to meet Iraq on Tuesday October 11, kick off 8pm (Thailand time). Iraq have also lost their first two games and this is a MUST win game for Thailand.

We wish the War Elephants the best of luck and the Buriram Times will be reporting on both matches.
