Thailand suffered a narrow defeat against South Korea in Bangkok. They fell behind to a superb thirty-yard strike by Suk-Hyun-Jun in the third minute and it looked ominous for the War Elephants. They were under the cosh for much of the first-half as the visitors dominated the midfield.
However, Thailand managed to hold out and mounted a spirited come-back in the second-half. They penned Korea back for long periods and were unfortunate not to equalize on several occasions. This 1-0 victory meant that South Korea broke the record for consecutive clean-sheets in internationals.
It was a significant step forward for Thailand and it will have given them real confidence ahead of the forthcoming World Cup third round qualifying matches where they will be facing the giants of Asian football. The draw for the third round will be made on April 12.
