The local golf enthusiasts knew they would enjoy watching “The Open” over the last weekend.
So some months ago the Golf Society decided to have, their own Claret Jug competition. It was to be held over two rounds of stableford golf, the first round having been played last Friday.
The esteemed senior member, Colin Bradwell, on a recent trip back to the UK purchased a beautiful Claret Jug and donated it to the Society for this competition.
A full round up will be provided after the competition.
Who’s that guy with Colin, he looks familiar.
Buriram’s top golfers completed their first round of this two day competition on Friday 15th July 2016 whilst “The Open” was still live to give them inspiration.
This Friday will determine the golfer of the year in the spirit of the game.
At the top of the leaderboard going in to the final day is our very own Rod Young (Proprietor of the Club House, Paddy’s Irish Bar And Outback) followed by the pack, Greg (busy- man ) Lindsey (Society Treasurer) and our Captain Tony Murphy are all well in the Chase. There are actually a few other players that also have their eye on the Jug and could surprise us on Friday.
Presentations will take place at the Irish bar after the Tournament on Friday afternoon.
Best of luck to all competitors from the Buriram Times
