Following the 2-0 victory at Bangkok Glass, it was announced that Alexandre Gama’s contract had been terminated with immediate effect. After sweeping all before them last season, Buriram have made a stuttering start to the new campaign and are trailling fierce rivals Muang Thong by eight points.

However, Buriram have not been helped by long-term injuries to 45 goal Diogo and Thailand full-back Koravit. The hugely promising Anon is another long-term injury victim, add to that the loss of Theerathon to Muang Thong and it is no great surprise that Buriram have not hit top form.

The players brought in to replace Macena and Diogo are nowhere near the same class and it would be interesting to know who was actually responsible for bringing them to the club.

Last year Alexandre was voted top Sports Coach In Thailand and in my limited conversations with him, I found him very pleasant and approachable. We wish him all the best and offer our thanks for some wonderful memories from last season.

The President has stated that he and Senor Gama had “grown apart recently” and that a new Head Coach will be in place very soon.
